For more than 100 years, Mount Olive Holy Church, Incorporated, located at 808 Lee Street in Durham, NC, has stood as a beacon of faith, love, and community. Founded on the principles of holiness and service, Mount Olive continues to be a place where hearts are renewed, souls are saved, and the love of Christ is shared with all who enter.

The story of Mount Olive is not only one of endurance but of divine connection and compassion. Many, like our Pastor Elder Rose C. Howell, have been transformed by the fellowship and unwavering love shown by the saints of Mount Olive. From her first encounter with the late Evangelist Gladys L. Surles in 1971, who would later become her spiritual mother and pastor, Elder Howell experienced firsthand the warmth and generosity that define this church family.

Through the decades, Mount Olive Holy Church has been guided by faithful leaders such as Reverend James Byrd and Pastor Gladys L. Surles, whose teachings in discipleship and servanthood helped shape generations of believers. Under their leadership and through the dedication of its members, the church has remained steadfast in its mission: to serve God, love one another, and be wise in winning souls (Proverbs 11:30).

Today, Mount Olive continues to thrive as a spiritual pillar in the Durham community, offering worship, outreach, and fellowship opportunities for all. With its rich legacy and forward vision, the church remains committed to “KING-DOM Building” — strengthening both the faith of its members and the community it serves.
